University of Texas Jazz Faculty Ensemble — live taping & listening-room concert. Directed by Diego Rivera, the ensemble features Mike Sailors (trumpet), Jacob Wise (guitar), Ross Margitza (piano), John Fremgen (bass), and Daniel Dufour (drums). The program celebrates the music of John Coltrane and Miles Davis with arrangements and original pieces showcasing the UT jazz facultys artistry.
Performance details: This is a live taping and will be conducted as a listening-room performance with a whisper policy in effect. First show: Doors 7:45 PM, Show 8:00 PM — (SOLD OUT). Second show: Doors 9:45 PM, Show 10:00 PM.
Venue: Monks Jazz, 310 E Saint Elmo Road, Austin, TX 78745. Cold still and sparkling water will be available for purchase; the event is BYOB. Ice will be available if needed; wine keys and 9 oz cups will be provided.
