Nakia is an influential queer artist in the Austin music scene and beyond, known for his commanding, soulful voice and more than 20 years of performances. A semi-finalist on The Voice (season one), he has shared stages with Alejandro Escovedo, Sharon Jones, Willie Nelson, B.B. King, and The Muppets. Nakia has been a tireless advocate for Austin’s music community—helping create emergency relief during the pandemic—and has served as a Recording Academy Texas Board Governor and founding president of Austin Texas Musicians.
